SANTA ROSA PLUMS Santa Rosa is a Japanese plum, with tart purple skin and amber flesh tinged with red. Clingstone. Extremely juicy, tender flesh, richly flavored with floral notes, lovely balance of sweetness and acidity. Once the standard of the industry, Santa Rosa has been largely replaced by boring, mealy plums that ship and withstand rough handling better. Season: Late June to early July Size: 40+ per metric layer Suggested uses: Fresh eating, salads, cheese platters, baking, sorbets, preserves, sauces. Shelf life: 10 days in your cooler for raw use, up to 3 weeks if you are cooking them. |
